I sent my driver $40 via Cash app to pick up my cigarettes. The driver then cancelled an unassigned order and vanished. It appears that I am now out $40. Will Doordash or Cash App assist me or punish the driver? I should not have sent my driver $40 via Cash app, fuck..

CANDID ADVICE

You’re toast.

Door Dash is not affiliated with CashApp in any way, so you’ll have to fight it with CashApp, but they rarely do refunds.

So even though we chatted through their chat system while he was still on my order and gave me his cash app and said he would bring me my cigs, there isn’t anything they will do?? The driver is:

Right? The driver didn’t even have to go anywhere and was still paid.

How many beers did you drink today? We are not required to accept your cash app bribes or anything else. You lost because you played a stupid game. Next. Play stupid games for stupid prizes.

It’s all your fault.

Next.

Why would you need to send that much money for a pack of cigarettes? You should have just ordered the cigarettes from a 7/11 through DD. You should know how shiesty many drivers are about getting their money back.

DoorDash will not assist you. You could report it, and they might punish the driver, but your money is gone.

I doubt CashApp will take any action. Your account was not hacked because you sent the money.

So Doordash will at the very least investigate or deactivate the driver? Expect nothing from them because it has nothing to do with doordash.

I also doubt that Cashapp will be of any assistance to you.

My advice is to not give strangers $40.

This has got to be the dumbest post ever. Why would you trust a stranger to get you cigarettes? Of course they’ll take the money. It’s your fault; accept your loss of $40, and don’t do it again.

I could write a long sentence, but in the end, you’ll have to go through small claims court.

In the case of DoorDash, they aren’t. I feel sad i sent my driver $40 via Cash app and he did this.

This is analogous to receiving someone’s CashApp via Tinder and then being ghosted. The method you use to contact someone is not responsible if you use another service to send them money.

CashApp may help at best, but that’s the risk you take when using instant payment services for something like that.

That happened to me once, but in the opposite direction. Customer messaged asking if I could stop by the gas station with my money to get 1 pack of cigarettes and he will add a $30 tip via the DD app. Yeah, cool, I said. I delivered his food and cigarettes but never received the additional tip. I wanted to ring his doorbell and confront him, but it was my first week of dashing and I didn’t want any complaints. Sometimes you just have to take the hit and learn from it.

I’d file a chargeback so the driver’s cashapp is suspended. Also, if you report to Doordash, they will do nothing because YOU sent the driver $40 to do “other” things that are not covered by Doordash’s terms of service.

They made a mistake. However, it is a risk you are willing to take. I can say that if I wasn’t going to pick them up, I wouldn’t take the money.

He got everything he needed from your order, so getting your order was no longer worthwhile. No, the driver canceled because you requested that they violate policy and purchase cigarettes for you; all they will do is deactivate Your account!

But he said he would cancel the order for me via their chat system and sent me his cashapp before canceling it. He cancelled and unassigned only after I sent the $40. Dropping the order makes sense because telling a lot of people no changes their entire attitude; taking the money was a bad move on his part.

The Dasher was a jerk for what they did to the OP, but accepting side work like that is not against policy.

That is entirely your responsibility. You gave someone $40, but you could be underage or lack identification. You told him to break the law for 40 years; he says no, but thanks for the cahs.

I’m making a door dash page called “they think shit sweet” that will contain all of this and all of the wrongdoing you all do to people.

Huh?? I inquired of him. He agreed. I received his cash app. I sent him some money. He vanished. I didn’t do anything wrong; I was simply stupid.

You were essentially asking them to take your money and run. You’re far too trusting, man. Take the L and remember what you learned.

Why not use the app to place your order?  I sent my driver $40 via Cash app, what can be done.

If I were the driver, the first thing that would come to mind is a sting operation.

I’m confident that DD will not disable the driver. His contract with DD is the DD order… he chose not to take that contract when he unassigned.

Don’t worry, they’ll make it! Simply remember your lesson and never trust a random stranger. I wish some idiot would give me $40 to unassign, OP. I’m sure he was cracking up on his way to the next order.

That’s exactly what you get. Don’t send money to strangers or ask them to buy things that aren’t on the app. Nowadays, the world is full of these s***** people.

That appears to be a poor decision on your part! Why would you do something like this? This is akin to standing outside a convenience store and asking someone to buy something for you inside with your money—they’ve long since left.

That is absolutely hilarious. I love your savagery. Next time, ask ahead of time and give cash on demand or when the goods arrive. I went to get some cigarettes because the person had forgotten, and he paid me when I arrived.

Here’s the thing: if you want people to deliver you things like cigarettes or alcohol that you did not order through the app, which would have necessitated an ID check, the delivery driver is under no obligation to do so, and offering a cash bribe to get around the law and get your way benefits no one but you, but that’s addiction for you. There are a few places in the doordash app that allow tobacco delivery, but they may not be available at the time you order, you need to do it the right way so that the Dasher doesn’t get in trouble for providing tobacco to someone without an ID check who could potentially be a minor, and you have an actual order that could be refunded in the event of non-delivery.

It’s only forty dollars, laugh it off, even if you need them, he obviously needed it more, forty dollars to learn a lesson! or continue wasting time calling people and stressing yourself out?  Before I sent my driver $40 via Cash app, i just knew something is off.

This is absolutely hilarious. I recall picking up cigarettes for people through DD at places like 7-Eleven via the app, but that was a long time ago. DD has no idea what kind of side deal you struck.
